Project presentation
This new data center houses state-of-the-art supercomputers for various research projects in Quebec and Canada. The complete construction of a new 25 kV electrical inlet, separate from the main electrical inlet, and the construction of a thermal power plant that uses chilled water enables the high-performance computer rooms to be served.

Characteristics and Impacts
The new center includes a 2 MW power supply for the supercomputers, with the option of increasing this to 5 MW, with minimal interruption to service.
The multitude of energy meters provides a precise picture of the sectors that use the energy consumed. This knowledge of the supercomputer’s consumption profile ensures that no branch of the power distribution system is overloaded, while allowing controlled growth over time.
Temperature rejection criteria are followed to enable the recovery of rejected energy for heating purposes, thus generating overall energy savings and exemplary energy efficiency, despite the computer center’s energy-intensive consumption.
