Client: City of Lévis
Project description
The project includes a 4,650-square-metre multipurpose building featuring administrative spaces, community areas, dance studios, and a full-service aquatic centre with Olympic-size and recreational pools.
-
Characteristics and Impacts
- A long-span hybrid structural system combining triangular steel trusses with glued-laminated timber beams, selected to meet the specific requirements of each area (steel for the multipurpose centre and timber for the aquatic centre).
- Integration of sustainable design measures to reduce the building’s environmental footprint while creating a bright, welcoming environment for visitors.
- Landscaping: comprehensive site development, including a 250-space parking lot, a drop-off zone for deliveries, a bus shelter, seating areas, and a footpath providing access to a neighbouring school. The project also includes a stormwater retention basin and the restoration of the riparian zone along the stream at the rear of the site.
