Bonnylodge Seniors’ Residence

Client: Lakeland Lodge and Housing Foundation

Project presentation

This $27M project was a complete re-development of the Bonnylodge in three phases over five years. The project involved construction of a modern two-storey addition to the facility.

As subconsultant to the architectural firm, BPA provided mechanical engineering services in phase three and electrical engineering services (Electrical Lead, Kan Jhass, BPA, formerly K.S.J. Engineering) for phases one, two and three.

Electrical systems included:

  • New service and distribution
  • New lighting and controls
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Emergency call systems
  • Emergency lighting
  • Voice and data outlets
  • Diesel-fired engine-generator set for emergency and back-up power

The building design incorporated a high-performance building envelope, eliminating the need for additional heat generation equipment and allowing the perimeter radiant heating to be tied into the existing heating distribution system.
