Au-Pied-du-Courant Heritage Building

Client: Télé-Québec/SODEC

Project description

The renovation and improvement of this iconic heritage building, originally constructed between 1831 and 1840, created new office spaces for Télé-Québec and SODEC while balancing the preservation of its historic character with the organization’s contemporary needs.

  • Renovation of the three facades of the north wing (warehouse) to restore their distinctive 1921-era industrial appearance.
  • Functional optimization of the building through the modernization of 10,300 square metres of space, including offices, multipurpose rooms, a bistro, a cafeteria, and administrative and technical facilities.
  • The SAQ’s ageing cellar, located in the basement, a high-value area ($50 million), remained fully operational and undisturbed throughout construction.
  • Careful integration of the site’s heritage character, thanks to external improvements that respect the location’s history.
