Amazon Warehouses
Client: Amazon
Project presentation
Given the rapidly growing population of Quebec City, Amazon wanted to increase its warehouse capacity to better serve the region. To do so, two existing warehouses were converted and modified. The first warehouse in Saint-Hubert covers an area of 18,400 m² while the second in Laval covers 51,400 m². The administrative areas of each building were also completely renovated, including the fit- up of offices, meeting rooms and common areas.

Characteristics and Impacts
The complete modernization of the mechanical and electrical systems has had positive impacts on the energy efficiency and overall functionality of the buildings. Adding destratification fans, replacing heating and ventilation systems and installing new LED lighting have all contributed to significantly reducing energy consumption. In addition, installing a centralized lighting control system and charging stations for electric vehicles shows a true commitment to a more sustainable future.
Transforming existing warehouses to meet Amazon’s requirements presented unique challenges. The entire project was fast-tracked, with completion within an extremely tight 16-week timeframe. The added renovation complexity, including dismantling existing safety measures without impacting existing systems, highlighted the ability to solve complex problems while maintaining operations.
