Montreal, April 15, 2025 – On April 11, BPA celebrated its first Unlocking Innovation Gala, a landmark event highlighting its employees’ most innovative solutions. The gala underscored innovation as a fundamental pillar of the firm’s corporate culture and a key driver of growth.
A day dedicated to innovation
On this memorable day, hosts Katerine-Lune Rollet and Brian Johnson, our Vice-President of Structural Engineering, welcomed our panellists and jury members, all experts in their respective fields:
- Stéphanie Augy, Assistant Director, Real Estate Planning and Construction Projects, CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal/HMR
- Bernard Bigras, CEO, Association des firmes de génie-conseil du Québec (AFG)
- Tone Frisina, Partner, BBB Architects
- Louis-Alexandre Langlois, VP Pre-Construction, Pomerleau
- Anik Shooner, President, MSLD Architects
They had the difficult task of choosing the winning projects in three categories: project, method and intrapreneurship.
Inspiring projects
A total of 49 projects were submitted, testifying to the commitment and creativity of BPA employees. Of these submissions, 10 were selected as finalists and given the opportunity to sell the jury on their bold initiatives. The finalist projects highlighted real-world impact—tangible results, measurable gains for BPA and its clients, and strong potential to be adapted across other projects. After rigorous evaluation, the top three projects were selected for their significant impact and potential to shape the future of the industry. The winners are:
- Projects Category – New Air and Ground Drone Intrusion Detection System (AGIDS): Innovation for Better Security, Jean-Philippe Demers-Maranda
- Engineering Methods Category – The Simple Box Method: Simplifying for Better Innovation, Pedro Guaraldi and Andrik Terauds
- Intrapreneurship Category – Stronger Foundations: How Early Engagement Supports Smarter Development, James McEwen, Tudor Munteanu, and Pablo Casuso
