Project description
This project involved the complete renovation of a century-old school while preserving its heritage character without demolishing any part of the existing building.

Characteristics and Impacts
- Upgrading an early 20th-century building to meet current seismic and gravity standards.
- Installing 56 micropiles within the building without modifying the existing foundations.
- Reinforcing existing floors using composite slabs and carbon fibre.
- Developing structural analysis and sequencing methods adapted from bridge engineering and applied to the building.
- Extending the building’s service life by 75 years while attaining a carbon footprint four times lower than that of a comparable new building.
