Characteristics and Impacts
- Lighting system: Close collaboration with the design architect ensured that the interior design vision was preserved to meet the lighting needs of the aging population. The highly efficient LED lighting solution follows the Illuminating Engineering Society’s recommended lighting levels and mitigates all lighting-related discomforts such as glare and high contrast ratios.
- Security system: The main floor of this assisted living facility has 68 beds for dementia patients and features an advanced security system for access control. This system works with a wireless system for wandering patients.
- Fire Alarm: The entire building is equipped with a high-rise fire alarm system that has a specialized sequence of operations for efficiently evacuating patients. This system is designed with patients and clients in mind and is coordinated with the Calgary Fire Department.
- Power Generation: Cambridge Manor features a regular and standby power generation system designed to minimize initial construction costs. The system provides the many needs of the occupants, including a 3,300 sq. ft. commercial kitchen, a 1,600 sq. ft. central laundry facility, and food serveries throughout the facility.
- Communications: The facility includes an advanced communications system, which features fibre-optic cabling and the latest standard of communications cabling.
