Project presentation

Following the school’s destruction in a fire, a new school was built. It’s the heart of the community, a main gathering place that features a sports facility open to all. The spaces are used for all types of festive gatherings. The building cultivates a spirit of belonging, with all members taking part. Inuit culture is at the heart of its teachings.

The project has several distinctive features:

  • Simple systems make the building easy to operate
  • Remote monitoring is ensured by the centralized management system
  • Building operating costs are minimized by energy-saving measures
  • The building’s acoustic performance is exemplary
  • Classes are adapted to the transmission of Inuit culture
  • Multi-purpose technology rooms used by the school are also made accessible to the community
  • A commercial kitchen supports meal preparation for both the community and students
