RCMP Modular Building – Nunavut
Client: Government of Canada
Project presentation
The 588 m2 modular building was designed to meet the operational needs of community policing. It was built in Alberta and underwent a complex sea transport to its final assembly location. Transportation restrictions had to be considered at the design stage. All mechanical and electrical services were integrated into the off-site construction.

Characteristics and Impacts
BPA intervened with the designer and builder to ensure compliance with RCMP requirements. An in-plant inspection corrected flaws and optimized construction time on site. On-site inspection validated assembly quality.
- The northern location made sea transport complex.
- The community is located approximately 45 km above the Arctic Circle, some 2,700 km from the North Pole.
