Project description

For this $14M project, BPA acted as mechanical engineering consultant. The City Hall is a 4-storey, 4,500 m2 municipal administration building that includes a full below-grade parking level. BPA developed the conceptual design for the facility’s HVAC systems and led the mechanical engineering team throughout the detailed design process. Schematic and conceptual design included design charettes. BPA remained involved with the team through construction to manage and streamline real-time trade coordination items and efficiency opportunities.

Building features included:

  • High-efficiency heating systems
  • Magnetic bearing chillers
  • Energy recovery displacement ventilation system
  • Active natural ventilation

BPA’s project management skills included leadership and involvement throughout the project design. BPA liaised with the consulting team to ensure that the concepts developed were understood by all, retained throughout the project, and coordinated with all disciplines.
