Project description
The CLSC is the Aupaluk community’s medical treatment facility. It includes an emergency unit, minor surgery clinic, dental clinic and physiotherapy centre. Space is provided for services such as youth protection and justice. A prominent place is reserved for culture and traditional healing methods, including a round room for celebrations and support groups. The clinic allows for the presence of a doctor on site.

Characteristics and Impacts
BPA’s project has substantially increased services in the community by integrating:
- Local oxygen and medical gas plants to facilitate supply
- A negative pressure isolation room
- An X-ray room including leaded wall
Community mobilization around the project is quite significant and is bringing about a change in thinking. The building is seen as “a place to go to get better” (Qanuingnisiarvik) rather than “a place to go when sick” (Aniavik).
